Experience: Through his service as a pastor and Bible college professor, Scott has 20 years of ministry experience. Over the years he has served as a short-term missionary to places where the Gospel is restricted and Bibles are confiscated. Scott says that some of his favorite ministry experience has been the years spent walking alongside individuals as a mentor, adviser, counselor, or friend.

What makes him smile? Scott says, “Put me on a beach with my beautiful wife at my side, and my grandchildren at my feet, and I’ll be a happy man.”

Favorite Teaching Moment: “I love when a student is struggling to understand a concept and we agree to press in until they get it. That special moment when I can see in their eyes that they get it is so powerful. I live for those sacred occasions.”

Philosophy of Education: Christian higher education demands of the professor an ability to balance Christian charity with the structure and rigor necessary to provide the student with the tools they will need in order to succeed in life and in ministry. In many ways, a Christian educator is viewed by the student as a pastoral figure and an example of Christian living and practical ministry. These extra dimensions of the student/teacher dynamic require the teacher to lead a life that is morally upright, rooted in God's Word, dependent upon the Holy Spirit, and focused on Jesus Christ. It is the Christian educator’s privilege to leave his students with a lasting legacy of biblical literacy, integrity, honor, and faith.
Educating is more than simply conveying information or testing a student’s proficiency at memorizing facts. True education occurs when students receive information in a way that challenges them, deepens their understanding, and amplifies their ability for practical application. Teaching is not merely something that one does. It is a high calling and grand privilege that demands an individual’s constant innovation, earnest efforts and vigilant prayer.
